Kids' Photography

I absolutely LOVE photographing kids.
There is something so honest and sincere about these early years.
They are truly themselves, with no worries of how they look, or what they're doing.
They only care if I am a fun person to be with.
Maybe it is because I have two kids of my own, my sister has two children, tons of my friends' have lil' ones, & I've have been hired by many parents & grandparents...
... I've photographed a lot of kids over a lot of years!
It still feels like magical moments when I shoot, and I still get excited about it, each & every time.

An Outdoor Wedding

Last month I photographed this wonderful couple's wedding at the Warfield House Inn in Charlemont, Mass.
It was perfect weather for an outdoor ceremony.
I loved how much the bride enjoyed herself, and how attentive the groom was.

Family Photos

I love it when my family gets together.
It gives me the unique opportunity to photograph kids who I've been shooting since they were born.
I'm recording our little family history, one year at a time.

Wedding Reception Photos

I have to admit it...
...I look forward to the photographing a wedding reception.
Everyone relaxes, lets their hair down, has a couple drinks, dances, laughs, enjoys themselves...
...most of the time.
THIS was one of those times.

They were enjoying themselves so much, & got caught up in it.
I usually stay at the reception until the last dance, even beyond.
All of this is planned out way in advance.
I don't want to miss the final floor circle, the last dance, the crazy cousin's specialty...
... there are SO many shots to be had, & a lot of fun getting them.
This is when I feel I can capture some magical moments with my photo journalistic skills.
I worked at a local newspaper for 8 years...
...I know my stuff....
...and shooting a wedding is ALL about documenting what's going on, and do it in such a way that catches THE coolest moments of everything.
Then I go back home & download ALL the images, & work some of my artistic magic on them.
I have degrees in art & photography, so I enjoy "tweeking" them a little, but not so much so not to loose the journalistic integrity.
I am not changing much to the image, just color to black & white, or sepia-toned ~like these~, accented with some touches of actual color, burning & dodging.
Photographic tricks with digital photography adds an artistic quality to my work.

My clients get a little something extra special. :)

Kids' Photography

These shot are from a recent shoot at a school's playground.
Letting kids be kids make wonderful photographs.
That's my approach to photographing almost anybody, even posed portraits.
We go to a favorite park, hiking trail, or a play structure in their own backyard.
A place that means something special and makes them relax.
I ask them to just "be" or "do" whatever they want to do, with very little direction from me.
What results are natural, realistic portraits of their true selves.
And the added pleasure is that we have a lot of fun together in the process.

My Kids - Portraits

My Kids
They have been born with the camera in their face.
Belly shots before; hospital's first portrait at just an hour old; every photogenic moment from hence forth.
Your mom's a professional photographer and artist?
Be prepared to be shot and captured!
My kids are very photogenic! They make great pictures! They are very comfortable.
So when a playful moment occurs, off I get the camera.
Here is a recent day playing and posing together.

Easter Portraits

Every year at Easter I photograph my sister and her family.
It is a wonderful opportunity to gauge how quickly all of our kids are growing up.
These wonderful kids are no stranger to their aunt with the camera, for they have been photographed since they were but a few hours old.

Homes For Our Troops

Recently the non-profit organization,"Homes For Our Troops" contacted me to help them with a project. They asked me to photograph a local Iraq War veteran who suffered severe shrapnel wounds as well as the loss of both of his legs as a result of an explosion.
He is presently living in a rented home that is not handicapped accessible. This proves a great challenge as he continues his therapies to learn to become more mobile on his prosthetic legs.
"Homes For Our Troops" builds handicap accessible homes for them at NO cost to the vet, purely by generous time, labor and donations from corporations, businesses and volunteers.
I feel honored to be a small part of this wonderful endeavor!

The images tell stories and the women photographers are all invited to share their stories and the story of their subjects with you. No two stories alike!

The entries have been juried and the winning images will be judged and awards presented after The Gallery Artist Talks on March 29.
First place receives $300 and second and third places receive merchant awards.

LUCKY o' THE IRISH

No, I don't have photos of shamrocks or clovers,
rainbows or pots of gold.

But I DO have BUBBLES.


This was taken at my daughter's birthday party last year.
It reminds me of my friend's artwork... Diane Clancy,

Spring Portrait Time

It's Almost That Time Of Year
Springtime is a wonderful time to celebrate!
New things are emerging.
The sun is shining brighter.
You feel more like smiling.
I am starting to get busy with family portraits and wedding celebrations.
I am very excited to be coming out of the frost.
I am looking forward to getting outside photographing Life again!

WINTER WEDDING
I photographed a wonderful wedding recently.
After the ceremony,the groom & bride and I went to a local park to photograph the intimate formals.
It was a beautiful event on a February New England day.
